AMP Client
AMP Client enables apps of every type to benefit from enterprise-grade security, high-performance reliable messaging, and enterprise integration features of AMPchroma. Patented technology provides management capabilities critical for the mobile enterprise.
Native, hybrid, and web app technologies have tradeoffs in terms of complexity, cost, and end user functionality. Native apps can do almost anything the user wants, enabled by the underlying device capabilities. But they can be expensive to build and maintain, especially when support for multiple devices or platforms is required. Web apps, on the other hand, can be quick and easy to develop and run across many devices, but are best suited for apps requiring limited functionality.

From simple web code to complex native apps, AMP Client allows all apps to be published, run, and managed via AMPchroma. Deploying HTML5 web code to the AMP Client container, for example, produces a hybrid app that leverages device features unavailable with a web-only app and automatically benefits from the security, integration, and management features of AMPchroma. But AMP Client does even more.
Unique Multi-App Hybrid Capability
With Antenna’s patented multi-app container technology, AMP Client enables enterprises to run multiple web apps in a single native container. Apps can be produced more quickly, managed more easily, and businesses can provide greater separation between work and personal functions in a BYOD environment.
A “managed hybrid” app appears to the user as a single app icon on the mobile device. But within that single container resides multiple different corporate apps. Imagine a single app that provides access to the HR portal, the CRM system, the workflow management app, the time management system, travel authorization app, expense reporting app, etc. All apps are secured with AMPchroma’s built-in security including end-to-end encryption and single sign-on Directory Server integration. All apps within the manage hybrid container can be updated over-the-air without requiring a new download or update by the user. If a user leaves the company or a device is lost, the entire app (and related data) can be removed remotely. AMP Client enables a wider choice of app types for all developers, regardless of their preferred technology, tools, or platforms. AMP Client can be used to deploy:
| App Type |
Description |
| Web |
Web code running in a mobile browser. Typically developed in HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript |
| Hybrid |
Web code running in a native container. Typically developed in HTML5, CSS, and utilizing extended JavaScript to leverage some device capabilities. |
| Managed hybrid |
Multiple hybrid apps in a single native container centrally managed and controlled with AMPchroma. Antenna patented technology. |
| Mixed mode |
Native code that includes slices of embedded web code to speed development and reduce device porting efforts. Developed in Java and cross-compiled for each device platform. |
| Cross platform native |
Common code leveraging native device capabilities for the rich user experience. Developed in Java, cross-compiled for each device platform. |
| Native |
Native code leveraging full device capabilities for the richest user experience. Developed in native languages and compiled with platform specific SDKs (iOS, Android) |
AMP Client delivers flexibility for mobile app developers and administrators. Developers can select any web or mobile development tool (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery Mobile, Sencha Touch, etc.), native SDK, or Antenna AMP Studio for cross platform mobile development. Apps can be pure web, hybrid, native, or some combination, and still be centrally monitored, controlled, and managed through AMPchroma. (for more on this, go to the Mobile Masters Webinar and download, “Demystifying the Mobile Container”.)
AMP Client works by providing a secure container on the device that communicates with a client interface on the AMP Services Engine, enabling centralized deployment of enterprise-grade apps, regardless of device. Even pure HTML5 apps can be enhanced with a native shell to provide access to unique device features (GPS, camera, etc.) as well as the integration with enterprise systems and centralized management of apps and data.
AMP Client provides real-time and offline capabilities to mobilize any data source into a feature rich mobile app running on any smartphone or tablet device. AMP Client apps automatically have access to the AMP Services Engine for custom services and numerous off-the-shelf services such as enterprise data integration, authorization, notifications, and geolocation.
