Antenna Cares
Antenna is a company built on a culture of teamwork and innovation, as well as community. In the spirit of making a difference, the Antenna foundation, Antenna Cares is an employee-led initiative that focuses on building and strengthening our local communities around the world.
Antenna employees volunteer their time in a variety of ways from tutoring kids to offering a helping hand in areas affected by natural disasters. And we give financial support to a number of nonprofit organizations both large and small that are in need.
We are proud to share a photo album and stories of our Antenna Cares initiatives sponsored by Antenna employees around the globe.
The LoveMikeNia Foundation
The LoveMikeNia Foundation is a non-profit organization created in memory of Michael Muchioki and Nia Haqq who were tragically killed in Jersey City on Easter Sunday in 2010. At the time, Mike was a shining star in the customer support department at Antenna – always performing above and beyond the call of duty – with an attitude of excellence and a smile. With a commitment to helping improve the lives of youth in the local community, Antenna became the first corporate partner to the LoveMikeNia foundation in December 2010.
The purpose of the organization is to provide monetary scholarships to individuals who possess similar characteristics and goals as Mike and Nia, create community service initiatives in which the scholarship recipients would participate, and provide a mentorship network to individuals who are likely to benefit from the same.
ChalkFest with the York Street Project
Each year Antenna proudly sponsors and attends the York Street Project Annual ChalkFest event in Exchange Place, New Jersey. The sidewalk chalk art festival features the children of the Nurturing Place, the York Street Project's child development center for homeless children. All proceeds directly support programs that help women and children break the cycle of poverty.
30 Days of Giving
Each December, Antenna puts the power of giving into the hands of our employees with an initiative entitled “30 Days of Giving.” Over a period of 30 days, we challenge our employees around the globe to donate their time, energy and generosity to local organizations that were near and dear to their hearts. Here are some examples of how employees have chosen to donate their time:
Northwest Harvest Organization: Employees in Bothell, WA spent a day preparing meals at Northwest Harvest, a hunger relief agency that provides a cost-effective model for getting nutritious food out to those who need it.
Mathru Foundation: Antenna India employees spent time visiting the Mathru Foundation, a residential home for physically challenged boys. In addition to playing games and singing songs with the children, employees donated funds to cover kitchen provisions for 6 months. Our employees continue to travel on their own, visiting the boys at Mathru regularly.
Movember Movement: Our Toronto team grew moustaches and raised $1000 in support of prostate cancer awareness.
Smiles for Jake: Employees at Antenna’s HQ brought their Wii joysticks and competitive spirits together for a friendly tournament benefitting Smiles for Jake, a Pennsylvania-based foundation giving hope to children battling cancer at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
St. Gregorios Dayabhavan Society
Antenna India employees spent Thanksgiving Day 2009 at St. Gregorios Dayabhavan Society, an organization involved in health care activities mainly in the realm of children living with HIV/AIDS. The Antenna team sponsored food, donated books & clothing and spent time reading, helping with homework and playing games with children in the program.
